Short demand peaks, a signed backup window, usable PV surplus or diesel support can justify a BESS. Continuous upstream overload cannot. <strong><a href=\"\/ar\/\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color:#046bd2\">KRL Power<\/a><\/strong> equipment should be screened only after the plant duty and Eskom-or-municipal connection route are known.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8dc510a0 auto-p elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"8dc510a0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The purchase question is which bus needs support, for how long, through which PCC, and under whose grid-connection rules. South African factories commonly reach that point through a repeatable import peak, a protected production bus that must ride through supply interruptions, daytime PV surplus, or a diesel set that should not carry every short event.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-280ec79a auto-p elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"280ec79a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">That logic does not fit every electrical constraint. The transformer already above its rating under continuous production has a permanent capacity problem. Published load-shedding blocks, old stage assumptions or generic &#x201C;four hours of backup&#x201D; lines do not identify the bus that actually has to survive. The protected load may need only the transfer and generator-start interval, or it may need several hours with the generator intentionally offline. Those are different BESS duties even at the same factory.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-38aadce5 auto-h2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"38aadce5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The South African Connection Route Comes Before Equipment<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a4ed20a1 auto-p elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"a4ed20a1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Write one line near the top of the design basis: <strong>Eskom direct supply<\/strong> \u0623\u0648 <strong>municipal supply<\/strong>. The application route, metering, permission-to-operate steps and accepted evidence can differ, so the equipment quote should not treat &#x201C;South Africa&#x201D; as one approval process.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2723e62b auto-p elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2723e62b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">an Eskom-supplied site, the current Eskom SSEG process requires grid-parallel embedded generation to be registered and asks for compliance evidence including a valid electrical Certificate of Compliance, NRS 097-2-1 inverter type-test evidence and an Embedded Generator Installation report. Eskom also publishes a separate registration path for larger systems and network-connection work. See the current <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eskom.co.za\/distribution\/small-scale-embedded-generators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eskom SSEG requirements<\/a> before assuming a cabinet can operate in parallel with the network.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-78993020 auto-p elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"78993020\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Municipal customers follow the local distributor's process. Cape Town, for example, publishes its own embedded-generation authorisation route, approved inverter\/equipment list, technical requirements and Permission to Install process. Its current application page warns that PTI can take months. Their EMS logic is completely different. An outage-first plant protects a reserve; a bill-first plant spends more of the battery during the tariff window.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4c012bc2 auto-p elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"4c012bc2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">South African factories should also separate <strong>ride-through<\/strong> \u0645\u0646 <strong>long-duration backup<\/strong>. Plants with a generator may need the BESS to hold one signed bus only through transfer and the 10&#x2013;30 seconds needed for the generator to become stable. Another plant may deliberately keep the generator off for two hours. Changing load-shedding stages does not automatically change the primary duty; the signed bus, generator strategy and allowed recharge window do.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9ec39d17 auto-p elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"9ec39d17\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Sites that want one cabinet to perform both bill reduction and outage backup should use the dedicated <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.krlpower.com\/ar\/%d8%a8%d9%8a%d8%b3\/peak-shaving-and-backup-one-cabinet\/\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color:#046bd2\">peak-shaving and backup duty page<\/a><\/strong> for the detailed reserve logic instead of assuming both jobs have their own private battery capacity.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b816b665 auto-h2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"b816b665\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Power, Energy and Current Reject Equipment for Different Reasons<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-09ec4329 auto-p elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"09ec4329\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Industrial battery storage cannot be sized from kWh alone. Plants averaging 90 kW through a shift can still require a higher power class during overlapping motors or a poor-power-factor event.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0cdb2798 auto-p elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"0cdb2798\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Energy sets the duration. Signed 80 kW critical load for two hours starts at 160 kWh of AC duty. Rated battery energy still has to accommodate the agreed SOC window, conversion losses, auxiliaries, reserve policy and any end-of-life requirement. The 261 kWh or 522 kWh nameplate is not a promise of the same number of AC kilowatt-hours at the factory bus.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-61a79d69 auto-p elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"61a79d69\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Current can reject a model after kW and kWh have already passed. Low power factor and simultaneous starts raise current without a matching rise in real power.
